Suck/lame: Brett Favre

We continue our mission of clearly defining those people, things, ideas, thoughts, actions and other nouns and verbs of questionable suckitude with the most popular Green Bay Packer ever, Brett Favre.

So, Favre decided to come back to the Pack. This is good news. After all, Favre only is the greatest player we ever had. He has won MVP awards, the Super Bowl and the hearts of football fans throughout the country. Early in his career he played with reckless abandon. As an elder statesman he stands for everything that’s right about the NFL. Seriously, you can’t get more loved than this guy. And we stand a much better chance of winning more than four games in ’06 with him at the helm. Of course, he was pulling the trigger for us last year, too, and how well did that turn out? Fact is, now that Favre FINALLY made up his mind to come back, the Packers have to put off the inevitable rebuilding process another year in order to make an unlikely championship run. Plus, we have to sit through another season of football announcers blathering on about No. 4 like a bunch of 14-year-old girls hung up on Justin Timberlake. Ugh.

So, is Brett Favre a football god gracing the Packers with another season, or an aging jock who doesn’t know when to let go? In other words, does he suck? Please vote by NOON FRIDAY.

Unwittingly, he demonstrates high, almost-toxic levels of suckaciousness. If you've never seen the movie "Everybody's All-American," you need to; it's the future of Brett Favre, post-football.
A guy who doesn't know how to do anything else.

I've been in the Packers locker room for a story one time. Brett Favre walked past me on his way to the training room and I didn't even want to make eye contact, I was so in awe. Favre could hit my dog with his car and I'd still get out and shake his hand. OK, maybe not, but this is so NOT SUCK, it isn't even funny.

I think if you live in Wisconsin, it is sacrilegious if you say suck. I heart Brett and vote NOT SUCK. -r

I should vote suck to cancel out Paul's vote, but alas, I will not. I abstain from voting on this subject as I have no opinion. I just want to make sure that Paul knows I let him slide on this vote hehehe.

He probably waited too long to make up his mind, but I'd still do 'em. Er, I mean, vote not suck.

Plus four is my lucky number. So, it's meant to be.

Not suck. (I'll just, uh, disregard the Packers' record last season and Favre's contributions to said record).

Brett Favre= Not Suck.

Everything else that has to do with the Packers (fans, excessive news coverage, etc) Wait, tailgating and drinking, not suck.

Wow, this is a resounding "I don't give a fuck" if ever there was one. Which doesn't help the conversation at all, I just thought I'd throw that out there. I guess, if I approach this in a syllogistic fashion, my vote would be suck. But I don't care enough even to commit to that.

(I find all sports to be mind-numbingly boring, especially football. My parents have this box at Lambeau and force me to go to games when I'm home; I end up getting shit-faced on Grey Goose while reading a novel, which, I feel, is not really what the experience is supposed to be.)

Coming from a Bears fan, not suck.

The dude is a sick QB. Can't deny it.

Maybe WAS a sick QB.

Unquestionably NOT SUCK. I consider myself lucky to have been alive at a time when Favre was playing. Years from now, we'll be telling our kids about what it was like to watch Favre play. He's an athlete who loves the game and is undeniably fun to watch. This is not an original sentiment - and it's probably cooler to hate someone that everyone else loves - Brett Favre is probably the least sucky professional athlete in the recent history of sports.

Not suck.

I've never known the Packers without him - mostly because before him I was nine and was too busy with Barbie - but it wouldn't be the same without him.

That'd be like taking binge drinking away from UW-Madison. Just not the same.

Not suck, Favre, not suck.

I have to take issue with Nick's sentiment. Obviously, Michael Jordan is the least sucky athlete in recent history.

It's OK, I forgive you.

I hope Brett is in for the next 2 years. Hopefully, the rest of the team can stay healthy so he has someone to pass to.

I would have to say that Brett absolutely, unequivocally, does not suck. He is one of the best QB's that we will ever see play the game of football. I agree with anonymous' comment regarding last season. He wasn't always at fault and the stats don't even begin to explain why his numbers were what they were. Whenever Brett decides to retire, you can believe that he will leave behind a legacy that all young and up coming players, whether QB's or not, will respect and admire forever!

Definitely - Not Suck

p.s. Thanks for having a subject worth commenting on!

he sucks. he and the fans need to learn about ITS A TEAM SPORT not one person crap. he is old there are younger players that have as good of a chance if given a chance. it is unfortunate that a team puts so much on ONE player when they could of had more. maybe they will get the stuff together this year and play like a team and win

NOT SUCK. He has done so much for our team in the past. He might be aging, but I would still take him as quarterback. The Favre haters can blame him all they want for last years season, but he is only a small part of the problem. The rest of the team needs to be taken into account to. Yes, he isn't as great as he was a few years back, but he still has some fight left in him. I say we back him.

Cheddar, did you ever read the Sports Guy's story about Jordan over NBA All-Star Weekend? Apparently MJ, Charles Oakley and a few other players were just a table away playing cards, doing all the customary guy stuff -- ripping each other, smoking cigars, drinking, being complete asses while setting down huge piles of cash, etc. A few hours later, MJ's wife came by and immediately, he had to straighten out, barely said a word from that point on.

He's human after all ...

I am new to Wisconsin and let me tell you I don't understand this whole "Packers" thing. Holy crap people they are football players, not gods. This statewide, not just in GB, treatment of the players and the team as some freakin' higher being is ridiculous. I have heard a story of some lady breaking down and crying at the end of last year because she thought Farve wasn't going to come back. Are your serious? It is like this state is one huge cult with Lambeau being

Farve is an arrogant fool who hasn't done much in years. Even when Marino's career was winding down he stil managed to be near the top of the ratings with QBs. And need I remind you that Marino spent his entire career without a running game and never had as crappy of a season as Farve did last year.

So ... FARVE SUCKS BIG TIME!

It is like this state is one huge freakin' cult.

I also agree with the statement that Wisconsin makes such a big deal over his coming back. We have a war going on and people homeless and we seem to be more worried about if one person is going to play a football game again? No wonder our jobs are going oversees fast...they have more scientists and educated persons...are we just cheeseheads!??
